PSG president criticises Real Madrid for celebrating Champions League

Real Madrid managed to win their 14th Champions League title last season.

Paris Saint-Germain

president Nasser Al-Khelaifi believes that

Real Madrid

's celebration after winning the Champions League was strange, given their efforts to start the European Super League.

Real Madrid, Juventus and

Barcelona

tried hard to start the European Super League and a big legal dispute with UEFA was created. While nine of the original 12 clubs that united to launch the project withdrew, three remained on their original position. PSG was one of the clubs that declared its opposition to the Super League from the beginning, and Al-Khelaifi claimed that Real's celebration for the Champions League was strange considering their efforts for the Super League.

He said:

"The strange thing is that they celebrate winning the club competition of UEFA. It’s the best club competition in the world. It’s very strange that you go against the already existing and fantastic club competition, but that you participate, celebrate and enjoy winning the title, which seems to me very strange, honestly."

Last season, Real Madrid defeated Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16 on the way to the Champions League. There were rumors that UEFA was going to ban Real Madrid from the Champions League, but it was defeated in court.
