Is It Essential for Carvalho to Find His Position in the Liverpool?

Fabio Caravalho’s promise is high but essential is it for the number 28 to find his position in the Liverpool team this season? Find out more here.

Portuguese winger/attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho was officially unveiled as a Liverpool FC player in early July 2022.

Although he scored a dramatic winner against Newcastle United in the 98th minute on August 31st, some fans and people from the media have agreed that he has looked lost in some of his games.

Although it’s still early days, he has struggled to make the impact that many thought he would.

Worse still, he picked up an injury in the local Derby against rivals Everton on September 3rd, which ended in a goalless draw.

Here we will be taking a closer look at how essential it is that the number 28 finds his position in the team when he’s fighting fit again.

Who is Fabio Carvalho?

Fabio Carvalho is a 20-year-old men’s professional football player who was born in Torres Vedras, Portugal, in August 2002. The right-footed winger/attacking midfielder spent his youth career playing at Olivais Sul, Benfica, and Balham,

before joining English side Fulham in 2015 and playing for them until 2020. He found his way to Fulham’s senior team in 2020 and played for them until May 2022, at which point he joined Liverpool FC for a reported fee of £5.31 million.

He has made six appearances for Liverpool, scoring two goals. He has also played at an international level for England U16, U17, and U18, and for Portugal U21.

His career highlights so far include winning the EFL Championship in 2021/22 and the FA Community Shield in 2022. As an individual, he scooped the EFL Young Player of the Month award in August 2021,

and he was included in the PFA Team of the Year for the 2021/22 Championship campaign. Many fans looking at

Liverpool tickets

knew they’d be seeing a player with great promise.

Does Carvalho have to fight to maintain his position?

Carvalho is a key player in the Liverpool squad. However, some still have reservations about his abilities, which means that he will have to fight extra hard to maintain his starting-XI position in the team.

He recently picked up an injury, which is not as bad as first thought and is likely to return to normal when they play their next

Premier League

game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on September 10th.

According to reports, he suffered a stress reaction in a specific bone around the tibia, but he is already back training.

He gave fans a brief glimpse of his brilliance, scoring a goal in the 9-0 thumping over Bournemouth, plus he also scored a 98th-minute stoppage-time winner against Newcastle on August 31st.

However, more injuries or a dip in form could see him being replaced by someone else. The Liverpool midfield is currently looking strong, with Thiago, Milner, Keita, Henderson, and Elliot all to choose from.

Curtis Jones and Stefan Bajcetic will also be looking to impress.

Upcoming Liverpool fixtures

Liverpool FC have had one of their worse starts to a Premier League season in recent memory, having won just two of their opening six games and collecting just nine points.

After playing Wolvers on September 10th, the Reds then go on to play Ajax in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League on September 13th,

before returning for Premier League action away to Chelsea on September 18th. Liverpool then go on to play Brighton away on October 1st.
