Bologna to appoint Mihajlovic as their new coach

Bologna ended Sinisa Mihajlovic’s reign this week and are considering Thiago Motta as his successor.

Thiago Motta

will be the new head coach at

Bologna

after the club sacked Sinisa Mihajlovic, the chief executive of the club said.

Since the club started the season on the wrong foot, grabbing only three points from five matches, the coach was sacked on Tuesday.

Mihajlovic started his reign in 2019 and kept his role while dealing with leukaemia diagnosis in July that year.

Although Luca Vigiani, the youth coach, took over for the battle against Fiorentina on Sunday, it is Motta who will be the permanent replacement.

On Saturday, Claudio Fenucci, the chief executive said:

"I wanted to tell you that the coach of the first team from Monday onwards will be Thiago Motta.

"We are defining the last contractual aspects but now I can give it official status."

Motta, who was capped 3 times for Italy during the time he was a player, started his role as the coach of PSG’s under-19 in 2018. He then coached Genoa and Spezia.
