Reece James extended his contract until 2027

The Blues defender will stay with the club for another five years.

has extended his contract until 2027.

James, one of Chelsea's valuable players and one of the hopes of the England national team in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, attracted the attention of many clubs.

In the winter transfer window, many English media reported the interest of major European clubs, including Real Madrid, in recruiting this player, but in the end, he decided to continue his presence at Stamford Bridge.

Minutes ago, Chelsea officially announced the extension of James' contract until 2027. He will earn £250,000 a week, a new record for full-backs in the Premier League. James is a product of Chelsea's football academy and has been playing for the club's first team since 2018.

He told club's website: 

‘I am over the moon with my new contract and I’m thankful for the fans, the new ownership and everyone involved in the club. I cannot wait to see what the future holds, and I am sure we will have the chance of winning many trophies.

‘I grew up supporting this club and I’ve been here since I was a six-year-old. I put pen to paper on a new deal because this is the club I want to be at. I’d like to say a special thanks to the fans, I am here to stay and we have a bright future ahead of us.’
