Odegaard not convinced by Eriksen VAR check against Man Utd

Martin Odegaard has said that it was the wrong call to overturn Gabriel Martinelli’s strike during the Gunners’ loss at the hands of Manchester United.

Gabriel Martinelli

went behind

Manchester United

’s defence to finish well in the corner; however, the restart was like an altercation between

Martin Odegaard

and United’s

Christen Eriksen

. It was checked for a foul and it was adjudged that the Gunners’ player had taken Eriksen and the goal was ruled out by Paul Tierney, the on-field referee.

Arsenal

got defeated notwithstanding some impressive moments, with Antony meeting the back of the net for the first time for United and Marcus Rashford netting a brace.

"In my opinion, it's never a foul,"

said Odegaard

. "For me, it is very, very soft. On the camera, you can always make it look a little bit worse. It's frustrating.

"I barely touched him, they keep saying this is the Premier League and want it to be physical. I don't understand how he can go back on it."

This came after a week of controversial interventions from VAR in a number of Premier League games.

West Ham were also denied an equalizer scored by Maxwel Cornet against Chelsea, whereas Newcastle also saw their Tyrick Mitchell goal ruled out, with both being for fouls on shot-stoppers.
