Spain's Dani Olmo might miss the World Cup due to an ankle injury

During his side's Bundesliga game against Frankfurt, the Spaniard might miss the World Cup being a regular in Luis Enrique’s squads. Suffering a partial ligament rupture, Leipzig confirmed Olmo will be unavailable for at least six weeks but his recovery might take longer.

RB Leipzig

was defeated 4-0 at

Eintracht Frankfurt

yesterday with their key winger

Dani Olmo

turning his ankle in a clash with

Djibril Sow

in the 11th minute.

Although the Spaniard tried to continue to play, Leipzig Boss

Domenico Tedesco

decided to bring him out as according to

AS

, the

Spain

international has picked up ankle ligament damage and might miss the World Cup this winter.

RB Leipzig confirmed on Sunday that the injury sustained by Dani Olmo in Saturday night's loss to Frankfurt will sideline the Spaniard for six weeks or more. Suffering a partial ligament rupture, Olmo will be unavailable for at least six weeks as the nature of the injury may keep the Spaniard out of the

2022 Qatar World Cup

.

The La Masia

graduate surprisingly left Barcelona in 2014 to move to

Zagreb

before joining RB Leipzig last year. Despite being linked with a reunion to Barca, the Catalan stayed put in the

Bundesliga

side.

Making 24 senior appearances for Spain, Olmo is a key part of

Luis Enrique

's renovation of the national team and his absence will be a huge blow for his side.
