Xavi certain Kounde will have his Barca debut on Sunday
One of the crucial signings of the Blaugrana has not been able to play in the league so far, but that may change this weekend.
Xavi Hernandez
is “pretty sure”
Jules Kounde
will have his La Liga debut this weekend when
Barcelonalock horns with
Real Valladolid.
The defender made a move to Barca this summer on a deal worth €55million as they beat Chelsea for his signature.
However, due to the financial problems Barcelona have been dealing with, they could not register the France international to feature in La Liga, despite other new singings such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen having made their debuts.
The Barca boss thinks the situation is finally dealt with and is sure that Kounde will feature against Valladolid on Sunday.
Xavi told reporters at his pre-match news conference:
"It's a negotiation with LaLiga. We are pretty sure that Jules can play tomorrow. We are optimistic."
Kounde can help Barcelona a lot in Europe as they want to win the Champions League trophy.
The Catalans will have to compete in Group C that has Inter, Viktoria Plzen, and Bayern Munich.
And Xavi knows how hard of a task he has in front of him, saying:
"It's a very difficult group, perhaps the toughest.
"We've made very good signings this season, we've invested a lot. The Champions League and the league, we want to go through and fight for the trophies. But the challenge is massive. It's perhaps the group of death."
