McKennie to stay in Juventus despite Manchester United's interest

It's been reported earlier that the Serie A club offered midfielder McKennie to Manchester United after they failed to reach an agreement with Adrien Rabiot due to Rabiot's salary demands.

However, according to

Sky Sports Deutschland

, although

Weston McKennie

was reportedly tempted by

Manchester United

's interest, a departure from the Allianz Stadium seems unlikely.

The Bianconeri are in the market for a new midfielder, but they can't make an official offer for PSG’s

Leandro Paredes

until they sell one of their midfielders. Juventus expected

Adrien Rabiot

to free up space for Paredes' arrival, but the French midfielder's negotiations with Manchester United have collapsed. The 27-year-old Rabiot wanted €10m per year but United was not willing to increase their offer and therefore the deal collapsed.

The 23-year-old McKennie joined Juventus from

Schalke

on a loan deal in 2020. Juventus exercised their purchase option for €18.5 million on 2021 and signed him on a four-year contract. McKennie has scored 5 goals in 55 matches for

Juventus

. McKennie injured his metatarsal in February 2022 and missed the rest of the season.

Besides Rabiot and McKennie,

Arthur Melo

is the other player they are open to selling but

Valencia

is not prepared to sign him on loan.

McKennie entered his third season in Turin and started in Juventus’ 3-0 win over Sassuolo on Monday night. The Bianconeri will next face

Sampdoria

on Monday in Serie A.
