Man Utd defender Eric Bailly set to snub Roma in favour of Sevilla

Sevilla is getting close to signing Manchester United defender Eric Bailly on a loan deal.

Bailly

has been linked with AS Roma in recent days and the Italian club was in negotiating with United but now the Sun newspaper claims that

Sevilla

is close to signing Bailly. Manchester United reportedly wants just £8.5m for the Ivorian this summer

These reports say that the 28-year-old defender prefers to join Sevilla on loan rather than reunite with Jose Mourinho who brought him to

United

. Mourinho has already signed another former United player in Nemanja Matic, who joined Roma after leaving Manchester at the end of his contract in June.

United has signed Lisandro Martinez this summer and is open to selling Bailly. The Ivory Coast international just played in seven matches last season.

Bailly joined United from Villarreal in 2016 for a reported fee of £30 million. He has never really established himself at United and since then he has played in 113 matches and won Europe League, EFL Cup, and Community Shield.

Bailly is one of three defenders who United will allow to leave this summer with Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe also has no place in Eric Ten Hag's plans.

United has signed three players this summer including Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez. They still want to sign Frankie De Jong from Barcelona and are willing to wait for him until the last days of the summer transfer window.
