Allegri discusses Szczesny, Bremer, and Di Maria
Massimiliano Allegri was feeling good as Juventus' preseason tour of the US came to a close, and he seemed ready for tonight's friendly against Real Madrid.
The Bianconeri came to the U.S. last week for their usual pre-season tour. On July 23, they played a friendly against
Chivas
and won 2-0. The next game, four days later, was a 2-2 tie with
Barcelona.
Allegri first said on
Juventus's Twitch channel that
Wojciech Szczesnywouldn't be able to play tonight's game because of a small injury. "Perin will play in goal against
Real Madrid
because Tek is having trouble with his adductor. I have to judge Cuadrado, and then Vlahovic and McKennie will play for the first time and get some minutes under their belts."
The coach of Juventus thought about how Bianconeri's preseason tour has gone so far. "We've worked hard for eight days, and tonight is our last friendly game before we go home. Everything is going well, but we need to be ready for the first league game."
He thought about the 2022–2023 season, which will be cut short by the World Cup in Qatar at the end of this year. "This year's season will be weird because it's like two seasons in one. Then, in 2023, after the World Cup. We'll have a game every three days starting on August 28. Hopefully, we'll be ready."
He talked about the new player
Gleison Bremer
, who was going to sign with Inter before the Bianconeri stepped in. "Bremer has fit in well, is a great defender, and has great qualities. All new players need to be worked into the team. Last, Allegri talked about the veteran winger Angel Di Maria, who signed a one-year contract with Juventus to help the team's attack.
"It's fun to watch football players like Angel, with or without the ball. He is different from everyone else and can do things in a different way. Role? He is so good at understanding how the game changes that we will have to do everything we can to help him."
