Bayern Munich agree €80m deal with Juventus for Matthijs De Ligt

Bayern Munich has reached full agreement with Juventus over the transfer of defender Matthijs De Ligt.

German and Italian media reports that

Bayern Munich

and Juventus have reached agreement over the transfer of

Matthijs De Ligt

for a fee that could reach €80m. An €80m fee would equal Bayern’s transfer record, paid to buy Lucas Hernández from Atlético Madrid in 2019.

De Ligt will travel to Munich on Monday for medical and will sign a five-year deal. Bayern reportedly is offering De Ligt €18m per season gross.

Bayern Munich so far have signed Ryan Gravenberch, Sadio Mane, and Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax this summer. They sold Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona on Saturday for a fee that could reach €50m.

Chelsea was also interested in buying the Dutch defender but he prefers Bayern Munich and the English club decided to focus on other targets.

Juventus wanted to keep De Ligt and extend his contract but they could not reach an agreement and the Italian club decided to listen to offers for him this summer.

The 22-year-old defender joined Juventus from Ajax in 2019 and since then has scored 8 goals in 117 matches. He won one Serie A and one Coppa Italia with Juventus.
