Mohamed Salah wins PFA Player of the Year for the second time

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been named the PFA Player of the Year 2022. Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne has won this award for the last two years.

Salah

was the joint-top goalscorer with Son Heung Min in the Premier League last season with 23 goals. The 29-year-old player also won this award in 2018.

, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane, Sadio Mane, and Virgil van Dijk were the other nominees for this award. This prestigious award is voted for by professional footballers from across England’s top tier.

"It's a great honor to win a trophy, individual or collective and this one is big so, very happy and very proud of that.

I have my room with trophies in a cabinet and I made sure I had space for one more. I always keep space and just try to imagine the trophies are going to come."

said Salah who the League Cup and FA Cup with Liverpool last season.

Salah scored 24 Premier League goals and provided 14 assists in the league. Salah after Mark Hughes, Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Gareth Bale, and Kevin de Bruyne is the sixth male player to win two PFA player of the year awards.

Manchester City's

Phil Foden

also won the young player of the year award for the second consecutive season. Chelsea's Sam Kerr won the women's PFA players' player of the year award.

Liverpool dominates the PFA Premier League team of the year with six of their Premier League players making the cut while Three of Manchester City's Premier League-winning  squad makes the team.
