Gattuso believes he and Valencia are pursuing the same goal

Gennaro Gattuso signed a two-year contract with

and announced that his goals with the club are on the same side.

The former

and

boss traveled to Singapore last week to negotiate with his agent Jorge Mendes and Valencia president Peter Lim, at which point a final agreement was reached and he signed a contract with Valencia. There was a lot of criticism of Gattuso's selection as Valencia's new manager, the most serious of which was Santiago Canizares, who called Gattuso sexist, racist and homophobic. However, Gattuso arrived in Valencia on Wednesday and was greeted by the media at the airport.

He said:

"I am here with great pride, I realise how much they want to win, I want to win too.

“I am very happy to be at Valencia, I am here with great pride. I signed a contract with a centenary club and there will be a press conference tomorrow.

“It’s the first time I have been in Valencia. I realise how much the team want to win, I want to win too, and we are preparing to work very hard.”
