Sao Paulo winger Marquinhos will join Arsenal

Arsenal has reached a full agreement to sign Sao Paulo winger Marquinhos this summer.

Fabrizio Romano claims Marquinhos will leave

São Paulo

on a permanent deal to join

Arsenal

for €3.5m. Brazilian winger will sign a five-year deal in the coming days. Wolves and

Atletico Madrid

were interested in the teenager but Arsenal has won the race for his signature.

Marquinhos had initially signed a five-year contract with Sao Paulo in 2019 that had a €50m release clause but FIFA ruled that it was only valid for three years under normal regulations for players signing their first professional deal.

Marquinhos is a winger who can also play behind the striker, and despite a lack of first-team minutes for Sao Paulo, clubs in the Premier League have been keeping an eye on the Brazilian.

The 19 year old Marquinhos has scored three goals in 15 games in all competitions this season. He has also played three times for Brazil’s Under-17s.

It's expected that Marquinhos will probably be sent out on loan for the 2022-23 season after signing with Arsenal. He is viewed by Arsenal as a future prospect rather than an immediate first-team signing.
