Arsenal wants to sign Sao Paulo winger Marquinhos

Arsenal is interested in signing Sao Paulo's Brazilian winger Marquinhos this summer.

Famous journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that

Arsenal

is negotiating with

Sao Paulo

about signing Marquinhos and the latest meeting has taken place today but there are still details to discuss before the full agreement.

Marquinhos is a winger who can also play behind the striker, and despite a lack of first-team minutes for Sao Paulo, clubs in the Premier League have been keeping an eye on the Brazilian.

Brazilian newspaper Globo Esporte earlier today first reports that São Paulo have received a bid from Arsenal and

Wolves

is also interested in him but the Gunners are leading the race for his signature.

Marquinhos has scored three goals in 15 games in all competitions this season.

The 19 year old winger has a €50m release clause but according to Romano, Arsenal is going to pay only €3m for him. Marquinhos 2019 signed a four year contract with Sao Paulo in 2019 but according to FIFA rules, a maiden contractual agreement can only last a maximum of three years in Brazil and therefore Sao Paulo could lose him for free this summer.

Arsenal currently has Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli as their two starting wingers but they are willing to listen to offers for Nicolas Pepe.
