Salah will turn Egypt disappointment into Success - Van Dijk

The Egypt international failed to deliver his penalty in the shoot-out as his side failed to get World Cup 2022 qualification.

Virgil van Dijk

has supported his

Liverpool

teammate

Mohamed Salah

to “turn disappointment into success” following

Egypt

’s failure to get qualified for the

2022 World Cup

.

The Egyptian, who had lasers pointed at him by the crowd as he lined up to shoot, blazed over in the penalty shoot-out since it was Senegal, led by Liverpool star

Sadio Mane

, who reserved a place in Qatar.

It was Egypt and Salah’s second time this year suffering shoot-out agony at the hands of Senegal, who won in the same manner in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Salah has been impressing in Europe this season but he does not get the opportunity to display his abilities in the greatest international stage.

When Van Dijk feels disappointed for what happened to the talisman, he is sure the forward will turn this into success for the Reds, with a quadruple still possible for Jurgen Klopp.

"

Well obviously, I feel sorry for Mo and for Egypt, but football is sometimes like this,"

Van Dijk told reporters after featuring in the Netherlands' 1-1 friendly draw with Germany.

"I am sure he will turn the disappointment into success for the rest of the season.

"We still have everything to play for so there is a lot of things still to achieve for him."

Salah is going to go back to Liverpool disappointed. Mane, on the other hand, will return knowing that he is ready to lead Senegal, who impressed in the group stage in 2018 in Russia.

Van Dijk was happy for Mane, but could not control himself giving a warning to his teammate.

"

As for Sadio, I wish him all the best and if he is in our group, he is going to need that good luck,"

the defender added.
