Mancini confirmed: Scamacca will miss the North Macedonia match

Sassuolo attacker Gianluca Scamacca has been ruled out of the World Cup play-off semi-final match against North Macedonia, according to Roberto Mancini.

The victor of that match will confront either Portugal or Turkey for a spot in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Because just 12 players are allowed on the sideline, Mancini had to leave a few surprises out of his final 23-man roster for this match.

Scamacca, Nicol Zaniolo, and Andrea Belotti were among them, but the Sassuolo striker was absent for a reason.

“He is improving a great deal, but at the end of the training session he had a slight muscular issue, so we need to evaluate his condition,” Mancini told Radio RAI.
