Hasenhuttl responds to rumors on replacing United's Ralf Rangnick

Southampton head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl has dismissed speculation that he may become Manchester United's next official manager.

Last Saturday, the Saints came back from a goal down to clinch a merited 1-1 stalemate at Old Trafford, just days after a spectacular 3-2 victory over Tottenham.

Since then, analysts and media pundits have speculated that Hasenhuttl would be the ideal candidate to lead the Red Devils into the next season.

Southampton center-back

Jan Bednarek

recently claimed that his current coach should be at the helm of one of the "biggest teams in the world," while Red Devils interim coach

Ralf Rangnick

has complimented the Austrian for his teams' distinct identities.

Hasenhuttl, who has hinted that he may retire once his contract at St Mary's expires, has shut off rumors of his taking over at Man Utd.

"This is not in my mind, and also not the things that are interesting me," he said ahead of this weekend's clash with Everton.

"I don’t want to speak about my future every week, last week we spoke about something different, and this week we shall speak about our game, what we have now against Everton.

"This is more interesting for me, and my whole energy and my whole focus is on this game, and everything else, I’ll leave it to you [the media]."
