Sky Sports Italia reports that Onana's transfer to Inter Milan as a free agent is final and that the transfer will take place soon. Romano wrote on his Instagram:

"The decision has been made months ago and it’s still clear. Onana wants to join Inter as next club, verbal agreement in place starting from season 2022-23. It’s considered matter of time.

"Onana respects Barcelona as his first club but he never said that Barça are his first option."

Earlier in the week, Onana praised Barcelona in an interview, saying it was a sign of his interest in attending the Nou Camp.

Onana's contract with Ajax expires next summer and he can leave Ajax as a free agent and move to Serie A.
