Atletico and PSG eying move for Nicolo Barella

Inter are struggling to extend the Italian star’s contract amid interest from other clubs.

Nicolo Barella signed a four-year deal with Inter when his loan move from Cagliari was made permanent in September 2020. The Serie A champions are trying to fend off potential suitors by signing an early contract extension with the Azzurri star, but there seems to be a big gap between the club’s offer and the player’s wage demands.

According to

Il Corriere dello Sport

, Barella’s agent, Alessandro Beltrami, has asked for more than €6m per season, which is way more than what Inter can offer at the moment.

Given the fact that Barella’s contract is far from being expired, the two parties are reportedly calm about the situation. However, the Italian star’s suitors are monitoring the situation to prize the young midfielder away before he reaches an agreement with Inter.

Atletico Madrid and PSG are rumored to be Barella’s main suitors, with the two clubs being ready to satisfy the 24-year-old’s wage demands.

Barella helped Inter in their journey to the Europa League final in 2020, before winning the Scudetto with the Nerazzurri a year later. The midfielder has featured in 96 matches for Inter, scoring eight goals and providing 26 assists.
