“It’s very difficult” Wijnaldum admits game time frustration at PSG

The Dutch midfielder has found himself way down in the pecking order at Parc des Princes after a free transfer this summer.

Georginio Wijnaldum left Liverpool to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer. The Dutchman was a key player in the Reds’ midfield, but he has rarely got the chance to prove his qualities at Parc des Princes.

While being on international duty with the Netherlands, Wijnaldum admitted he is frustrated by his lack of game time at the French side.

"I can't say I'm completely happy,”

Wijnaldum said before his side's upcoming World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar.

"The situation is not what I wanted. I have played a lot in recent years, was always fit and also did very well. This is something different and that takes getting used to. I was really looking forward to the new step and then this happens. It is very difficult.

"That's football and I'll have to learn to deal with that. I'm a fighter. I have to stay positive and work hard to turn it around."

Wijnaldum has started only one of PSG’s five Ligue 1 games so far this season. The former Liverpool midfielder has failed to record a single goal or assist this season as Marco Verratti and Idrissa Gueye continue to be Mauricio Pochettino’s preferred options for the central midfield position.

After the international break, PSG will face Anger in their next Ligue 1 match on Friday.
