Ronaldo's strict diet is affecting the squad- as per Man Utd's goalie

According to Manchester United's backup goalkeeper Lee Grant, Cristiano Ronaldo's rigorous dietary is already influencing everyone in the team's squad.

The club's Friday night supper was a unique event for one reason since it was held before Saturday's 4-1

Premier League

triumph against Newcastle, in which the 36-year-old reacquainted himself with the Old Trafford crowd with two strikes.

When Grant looked at Ronaldo's dish, he saw that none of his Manchester United teammates were interested in trying the sweets and desserts.

He told

Talksport

:

"To give you one instance of the impact he is having on the group, this was Friday night in the hotel.

"So, as you guys will be aware, you finish your dinner and usually on a Friday night you've got some cheat stuff out. You've got some apple crumble and custard or you've got a bit of brownie and cream.

"I tell you now, not one player touched the apple crumble and custard, not one player went up for that brownie because everybody was sat down.

"One of the lads said to me, 'What has Cristiano got on his plate?' Obviously it is the cleanest, most healthy plate you can imagine."

Ronaldo's endurance in such a demanding sport has been attributed in part to his rigorous diet, which consists of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, fish, yogurts, quinoa, and chicken.

Grant continued:

"I'll tell you one of his plates - he had several. One of them was quinoa, avocado and a couple of boiled eggs. This guy is in incredible shape

."

The Red Devils manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

believes he is not obligated to play Cristiano Ronaldo in every match.

After a 12-year absence, the Portuguese talisman returned to the club just before the end of the transfer window last month.

He comes with a great profile, but the United coach insists that does not imply he will always be the first option.

"No, it's not impossible to leave him out," Solskjaer said. "He is 36.

"Mason (Greenwood) is 19, so it's the same. I have to manage his minutes and I have to manage a 36-year-old's minutes as well."
