Balotelli was cleared of the rape charge
The court ruled that the girl who complained to Balotelli intended to extort money from him.
Following a 16-year-old girl's complaint against Mario Balotelli for rape, the court ruled that Mario Balotelli had not committed any wrongdoing.
This happened in July 2017, when the former striker of the Italian national team was playing for OGC Nice. He emphasized that the girl was on a trip when they met and they had consensual sex, but after this incident, the girl called him and asked for 100,000 euros.
Balotelli approached police and informed them three weeks before the girl and her lawyer filed a complaint. The Brescia City Court has now ruled that the case is closed and there is no evidence that Balotelli misbehaved.
Former
Interand Milan star's lawyer also said:
“Balotelli is satisfied, as this was an unacceptable and insulting accusation. It’s a pity for the girl, who proved herself to be an instrument in the hands of an adult without scruples."
Balotelli, 31, currently plays for Turkish club Adana Demiraspor.
