Lazio in talks with Arsenal over Lucas Torreira
Lazio are in advanced negotiations over Lucas Torreira with Arsenal.
Lucas Torreira
has spent most of his professional career in Italy with Pescara and Sampdoria before he moved to
Arsenalin 2018 on a €29 million deal.
He was not then able to settle in England and spent last season at Atletico Madrid on loan. He is now determined to leave London.
have been linked with the 25-year-old for a long time and he is a good candidate for them as he suits Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 formation and would be more than happy to come back to Italy.
Another reason for him being a good candidate for Lazio is that the Uruguay international has a Spanish passport and therefore he would not take up a precious non-EU slot in the squad.
La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that Lazio could sign him on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
However, Lazio are going to need cash to sign him and either President Claudio Lotito is going to step in with a fresh cash injection or they need to sell some of their players.
The ones on the way out are Joaquin Correa, whom Inter and Arsenal want at €30 million, and also Olympique Marseille target Gonzalo Escalante.
