Egypt’s handball team makes history

Egypt's handball team reaches the semi-finals in the Olympics for the first time.

The men's Egyptian handball team defeats Germany to become the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the Olympics and the first non-European team to do so in the last three decades.

Now they are one step away from making their names live forever as they face France in their next match, which is going to be their toughest opponent so far. But the Egyptian stars like Yahia Omar, Ali Zein, Ahmed Mohamed, Ahmed Elahmar, Karim Hendawy, and Mo Sanad have already proved their quality on their way to the semi-finals defeating three European teams.

Their defeat against Denmark made the Egyptians more determined to achieve something that no non-European side has ever done, and reaching for a medal in the Olympics can change things in handball and end the European side’s dominance over the field in the future.

The journey has been a fairytale so far for Egypt, but they are not finished yet as they get closer to what they have been dreaming for so long, so we have to wait and see what will happen to this golden generation of Egypt’s handball.
