David de Gea unwilling to leave Manchester United

According to reports, David de Gea is adamant about staying at Manchester United this summer.

Last season, the Spain international, who has yet to participate in

Euro 2020

, was demoted from the club's No. 1 position.

Dean Henderson

was promoted by

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

in the penultimate stages of the season, as De Gea continued playing in the

Europa League

Tom Heaton has just joined United, and

Lee Grant

has agreed to one-year contract renewal.

As a result, reports have surfaced that De Gea might be on his way out of United, who presently have four senior goalies on their roster.

According to

The Times

, though, the Spaniard has no plans to retire from Man Utd.

If the Red Devils were actually intending to cash in on De Gea, this might throw a wrench in the plans.

The 30-year-contract, old's rumored to be worth £350,000 per week, has two years left on it.

It's uncertain if any other team will be prepared to match his salary. PSG has been linked with Gianluigi Donnarumma in the past, but he appears ready to join them on a free transfer.

AC Milan

need a new goalkeeper, but they are unlikely to be able to pay De Gea's contract.

That knowledge may explain why the Spaniard is willing to stay put, although he may desire to show his value at United.

Henderson has explicitly stated that he has no desire to return to the bench; therefore, Solskjaer will have to choose ahead of next season.

When he was given a shot after the 2020/21 season, the England international did well for the most part.

This will be a litmus test for Solskjaer's leadership since neither of his two main shot-stoppers is likely to be content as a backup.
