Strikers live by goals, but I stayed calm – Martinez

Lautaro Martinez was ‘calm’ despite his goal drought at Argentina.

Argentina

finished their journey in the group stage of Copa America with a 4-1 victory over

Bolivia

on Monday and advanced to the quarter-final of the competition.

Argentine striker

Lautaro Martínez

, who went on a goalless streak in his past five international games, finally managed to find the back of the net and scored his side’s fourth goal against the Bolivians.

Martínez later said that he was unfazed by the goal drought, because he had his teammate’s trust.

"I'm calm because the coaching staff and my team-mates trust me,"

Martinez told TyC Sports.

"The ball sometimes goes in and sometimes it doesn't. Strikers live by goals, but I stayed calm."

The 23-year-old striker added:

"I am happy with the team's work, we are growing. Bolivia was already eliminated and we took the game on seriously and responsibly. Every time you play with Argentina you have to go in with everything to win."
