The Gunners face competition in pursuit of Onana
Ajax’s Andre Onana who has been linked with a move to Arsenal now has other offers.
, who have been interested in signing
Ajax’s
goalkeeper
Andre Onana
for a long time, now face competition following the reduction of his suspension.
Onana had been charged with a one-year suspension, but now that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has come up with a new verdict, other clubs have shown interest in signing the Cameroon international.
The 25-year-old will be free to join another team in the summer because his contract with Ajax expires at the end of the 2021-22 season, and the club doesn’t want him to leave as a free agent.
The Gunners have been interested in signing the player since last January, and they have been monitoring his situation in the past months after his situation with a positive doping test.
Mikel Arteta is an admirer of Onana, but the situation is complicated since the club has held negotiations with the player’s representative because their number one goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who has been considering leaving the club, has not made his decision about parting ways with the Gunners and currently he is representing his national team in the Euro 2020.
The Gunners know that Onana is going to choose a club where he gets to be the first choice, and this is why the move has been in doubt, but they know that they don’t have much time before other clubs convince the high-profile goalkeeper.
