Ronaldo sets Euro record and aims to depart Juve

The Portugal international is still making history during his fifth European Championship, but the Portugal captain is set to depart the Bianconeri in the summer transfer window.

Cristiano Ronaldo

is going to feature in his 22nd game at the Euros today, extending his record in having the most European championship appearance in history.

This summer’s Euros will be his fifth participation which makes him the first player to have that record. The former Real Madrid star’s goal record is tied with Juventus player Michel Platini, with nine goals scored in the competition.

Ronaldo has contributed to 11 victories in the European Championship games, which is the same number of wins that former Spain internationals Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas delivered.

But as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner keeps chasing records in the Euros,

La Gazzetta dello Sport

claims that the Portuguese is on the verge of departing

Juventus

.

The reports refer to his comments before Portugal’s battle against Hungary today.

Ronaldo insisted that his future “doesn’t matter” at the moment, but when quizzed whether he plans to stay or depart Juventus, he answered:

“What happens, will be for the best.”

However, the speculations raising surrounding his future at the Allianz Stadium has not been distracting the 36-year-old.

I have been playing at the highest level for 18 years. It doesn’t really bother me,”

Ronaldo said.

“I’m 36. Now I’m focused on the European Championship, I want to win and I want to have positive thoughts from the first to the last game.”

Ronaldo’s contract will run out in June 2022 and according to recent reports, he plans to reveal his decision when Euro 2020 ends.
