Onana’s ban has been reduced to 9 months

Ajax goalkeeper’s doping suspension has been reduced from one year to nine months.

Ajax’s

high-profile goalkeeper, who had been suspended for a year following an out-of-competition test for doping, now will face only nine months of suspension with the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Andre Onana

was banned for a year by the UEFA after testing positive for Furomeside, but he insisted that he had accidentally used his wife’s prescribed medicines and made an appeal to CAS, and the committee heard his sayings last week in a virtual meeting, now the verdict has been announced reducing the length of his suspension to nine months.

Onana can’t train with the team during his suspension, and he has been training with a personal trainer on a local pitch in Amsterdam, but he can start training with the team two months before his ban is over on September 3.

The most important effect of the reduction in his suspension will be its effect on his possible transfer in the summer as he can be helping his side on November 3.

And since the player has been linked with

the Gunners

for a long time, this could mean that he can finally complete his transfer to the London club. Arsenal had already reached an agreement over the player, but it couldn’t be done because of the financial situation that the clubs have been facing with the pandemic.

Now Arsenal will be getting ready to make a £7 million ($9.7m) offer and hope that Ajax will be convinced to sell the player.
