Brazil players will participate in Copa America against their will

The players of the Brazilian national team did not intend to participate in the Copa America before.

Brazil

players announced that they are against holding the Copa America in their country, but they will not boycott the competition.

The Copa America was supposed to be co-hosted by Argentina and Colombia, but due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus in the two countries, CONMEBOL decided to move the competition to Brazil. Brazil, meanwhile, is going through one of the worst Covid-19 outbreaks in the world, and there have been many protests.

The players of the Brazilian national team, who were critics, had not previously intended to participate in the competition, but they issued a statement stating that they would not boycott the competition despite their opposition to holding it in Brazil.

"For different reasons, be they humanitarian or professional, we are not satisfied with the way the Copa America has been handled by CONMEBOL,

" the players said.

"All the recent facts lead us to believe in an inadequate process in realising [the tournament].

"We are workers, professional footballers. We have a mission to take with the historic green and yellow shirt that won the World Cup five times," the statement continued.

"We are against the organisation of the Copa America but we will never say no to playing for Brazil."
