Onana’s move to Arsenal depending on his appeal

is facing a 12-month ban for doping, but he hopes that his ban gets reduced as Arsenal keeps monitoring the events to make a move for signing the player, but the chances for the move would be higher if the ban gets reduced.
Onana has talked about the matter in a virtual hearing explaining that he thinks the ban should be reduced, but UEFA representatives insist that CAS should stick to the verdict of a one-year ban.

decided to ban Onana for 12 months after he tested positive for Furosemide in an out-of-competition test. The high-profile goalkeeper insists that he accidentally took his wife’s prescribed medicine, and the Dutch Association of Professional Footballers (VVCS) has backed the player saying that the length of the ban is disproportionate and incomprehensible.
UEFA insists that the suspension is warranted while the terms of suspension mean that Onana won’t be able to even train with his team. The player has been training with his goalkeeping coach on an amateur club’s pitch in Amsterdam.
Onana has appealed his suspension, which was heard on Wednesday by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The hearing was held virtually and took four hours with Onana supporters by his lawyers, and Ajax club doctor, and Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar.
The Cameroon international hopes that his ban would be overturned or at least reduced to six or eight months.
