Bailly warned Man Utd about his playing time

Bailly, who recently extended his contract with United, warned the club about the opportunity to play.

Manchester United

defender Eric Bailly has warned the club that he will leave the club if he does not have much time next season.

Bailly joined Manchester United from Villarreal in the summer of 2016 for £30 million, and the Red Devils had high hopes that he would become one of the best defenders in the world. He did very well in his first season under Jose Mourinho and won two trophies. However, he suffered a significant decline after the multiple injuries throughout this years. He, who recently extended his contract with the club until 2024, warned the club that he would leave United next year if he did not get much opportunity to play.

“Competition is always good to improve,”

former Villareal defender told

The Times

. “I just say that I want to stay in case I get the chance to play. I don’t want to be a starter one game and a substitute for another five.

“If that happens I will have to look for another solution. The new contract is fine but if I don’t play I will be open to listen to other proposals.”

Bailly added on his contract extension and the talks he had with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer:

“I spoke to him and he told me he wanted me to stay.

“The most important thing was not the renewal but the conversation we had: we sat down, we talked and he told me what he wanted from me and that he wanted me to continue.”
