Fonseca: I leave Roma, but the club and these fans remain in my heart

Paulo Fonseca is proud to have coached Roma, and he revealed what he taught the Giallorossi during his two-year stay at the Italian capital.

In Fonseca's last

Serie A

game as Roma manager, Roma will travel to Spezia tomorrow.

"The players are motivated, we have trained well this week. We are aware that it is important to win to qualify for Europe," the Portuguese tactician said at a press conference.

"Spezia play really well, they always want to have the initiative. Italiano is a great coach with a bright future, it's not easy to play against them but we want to win," the 48-year-old coach continued.

"I am proud to have been the Roma coach, I've learned a lot here. Fans have always been kind to me, I leave Roma, but the club and these fans remain in my heart."

What was his greatest achievement as Roma's coach?

"It's hard to pick one. Probably the nicest thing is the relationship I've created with people, with you journalists, with the fans and everyone who's worked with me over the last two years. It was a respectful and honest relationship.

"We played a good brand of football, but it's hard to pick the best game."

The Portuguese coach had a falling out with

Edin Dzeko

, who had his captaincy revoked in January.

"That didn't affect his season," Fonseca said.

"This is something that happens in every team. In the last game, Dzeko proved all the problems have been solved, as it happens everywhere."

Is he dissatisfied with

Pedro'

s performance throughout the campaign?

"I think he had a solid start, but then suffered a few physical issues and it was challenging for him to get fit again. In the last few games, he seemed the same player of the beginning of the season."

What lessons has he imparted to the staff during his two-year run at the She-Wolf?

"The need to always keep the balance and don't make a drama when they lose games. There is a lot of pressure here, but they should forget about this feeling, it's important not to make a drama and react."
