Scholl: ‘Sane still lacks structure’
Mehmet Scholl said after Bayern’s 1-0 win over PSG that Leroy Sane is still unfinished and has some way to go before becoming a complete player.
Leroy Sane
played the full 90 minutes of
Bayern Munich’s 1-0 win against
Paris Saint-Germainin the second leg of their quarter-final tie.
The reigning champions had to exit the
Champions Leagueas their win was not enough to overturn their 3-2 defeat in the first leg.
Former Bundesliga star
Mehmet Scholl
criticized Sane’s performance and believes he still has some way to go before becoming a complete player.
"I'm overwhelmed, I don't know. At 25 years of age, he's still unfinished,"
Scholl said of Sane during an interview with
Bild.
"When do I dribble? When do I pass the opponent on which side?
"The mix isn't right yet, he still lacks structure. He's gotten better overall and is getting more and more understanding of Bayern Munich, but he's not quite as far as bang in a game like Arjen Robben or Franck Ribery were.”
Sane joined Bayern last summer from Manchester City and failed to hit the ground running in his first season as there was strong competition for places alongside Kinglsey Coman and Serge Gnabry.
Since he joined Bayern, he has been able to feature in 38 games across all competitions through which he has been able to only score eight goals and provide 11 assists.
Now with his poor performance against PSG, head coach Hansi Flick probably is not convinced to give him a regular spot in his lineup.
