Stoichkov believes that Cruyff would sign Mbappe over Haaland

The ex-Barca ace, Hristo Stoichkov remarked that Erling Haaland would be more useful than Kylian Mbappe playing with the Spanish giants, but he then said that the fabulous Johan Cruyff would have chosen a system that includes the French player.

In the last years, both Haaland and Mbappe have grown to become the top players of the game, while many believe that they will be the heir apparent to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Practically, each and every team would prefer to sign the duo, Barcelona included, but Stoichkov announces that he believes the difference between these two is a matter of opinion more than anything else.

“With two or three signings you can make a very competitive team,"

he announced to

Goal

"You need a left-back because Alba is going to be killed, and I would sign Alaba because he can play you in three different positions and very well in all three. And then a Haaland or an Mbappe.

“I think that with Barcelona's system, Haaland can be more effective. But if the coach were Cruyff, I already can tell you that I would sign Mbappe first. He would play without a number nine and he would play with [Ousmane] Dembele and Mbappe and [Lionel] Messi organizing."

He continued.

In comparison, Mbappe and Haaland have both been able to play in excellent form this season and both supported their teams to the Champions League quarter-finals.

Mbappe

has scored 28 goals in 35 matches this season as PSG are fighting their way atop the Ligue 1 table.

meanwhile,

Haaland

has netted 31 goals in 30 matches, taking his total to 47 goals in 48 games since heading to Borussia Dortmund.
