Portsmouth set to appoint Danny Cowley as their new boss

The former Lincoln boss has been out of work since he was dismissed by Huddersfield last year.

Kenny Jackett

departed his role as

Portsmouth

’s manager on Sunday after his side were defeated in the Papa John's Trophy final against

Salford City

. The club started to look for a suitable replacement and according to a report from

Sky Sports

, they are set to appoint Danny Cowley as their new boss. The deal is expected to be confirmed on Thursday but Cowley won’t be able to start his job immediately as he has to submit two negative Covid-19 tests before joining the team.

Cowley was

Lincoln

’s manager when they won the National League and also reached the FA Cup quarter-finals in 2016-17. Cowley left Lincoln and joined

Huddersfield

in 2019, but his spell at the Championship side lasted less than a year as they finished the season only three points above the relegation zone. Having collected 52 points from their 34 matches, Portsmouth are currently in 10th place on the League One table.
