Solskjaer confirms Manchester United contract talks with Bailly

The Red Devils have already opened contract talks with the centre-back ahead of his final season with the club, confirmed Solskjaer.

Manchester United

manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, confirmed that they

“have started talking to

Eric [Bailly]

and Eric’s representatives”

over extending his stay at Old Trafford following the player's 100th appearance with the Red Devils in their Europa League draw with

AC Milan

.

Bailly, who joined the

Premier League

side in 2016, still has a year left to his contract, and the Norwegian boss hopes the centre-back agrees to another deal in the very near future.

“Yeah, we have started talking to Eric and Eric’s representatives,”

Solskjaer said.

“Eric is keeping fitter for longer and you can see his performances as well. I have been very happy with him.”

"His playing style has made him miss too many games because 100 games, that’s not enough for the period that he has been here. He is getting more and more robust. He is one we are talking to.”

Out his 100 appearances with Man-Utd, Bailly started in 88 of those games, but his ongoing struggles with injury has forced Solskjaer to go with

Victor Lindelof

and

Harry Maguire

as his regular options this season.

Still Bailly has proved to be a major presence for Solskjaer’s squad and the club hopes the 26-year-old continues to be a worthy investment by keeping fit.
