Sydney FC defender Ellie Brush has missed the remainder of the W-League season after rupturing the ACL in her right knee.

She picked up the injury during their 6-2 victory over

Perth Glory

last week and will have surgery in the upcoming days.

The 2021 Tokyo Olympic soccer tournament is set to take place in July 2021.

It generally takes several months to recover from ACL surgery but

Brush

is determined to recover as soon as possible to feature for her national team in the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo.

"To say I'm devastated would be an understatement,"

said Brush, who has also played AFLW with the Giants

.

"I've worked extremely hard since joining Sydney FC to put myself in this position and to get injured in this way is a huge blow.

"I'm determined to overcome this setback and want to get my recovery underway as soon as possible.

"Once I've had the surgery and I'm physically and mentally able to do so; I'll be around the team as much as possible and do anything I can to help this fantastic group of girls."
