The Mariners’ boss says everyone has to find a way to be successful

Victoria's latest COVID lockdown brought another round of fixture chaos in the A-League as the five-day statewide lockdown led to both of Saturday's matches involving Melbourne teams being postponed.

However, goals from

Matt Simon

and captain,

Oliver

Bozanic

, handed the

Mariners

a sixth win from eight to help them stay on top of the league. Central Coast's nearest rivals are newcomers,

Macarthur FC

, who bagged a 4-0 home win thanks to

Matt Derbyshire's

hat-trick.

Mariners and Macarthur are only A-League clubs that have completed 8 games this season as

Mariners’

coach,

Alen Stajcic

, admitted the fixture uncertainty wasn't ideal but insisted clubs have learned valuable lessons in adaptability thanks to the COVID disruption.

"Last year was a bigger hit to our psyche,"

Stajcic said.

"I think this year everyone (all the clubs) is starting to adapt.

"Everyone is finding a way to do things they wouldn't normally do, so regardless if you play two or three (matches) in a week, everyone has to find a way to be successful."
