Spinazzola: ‘Roma could have killed Juve off’

Roma left-back Leonardo Spinazzola believes his side could have killed Juve off but they did not and lost three points as they were held to a 2-2 draw against the Bianconeri.

“The 2-2 draw with Juve was the game with the most regrets for us, because we threw away three points,”

Spinazzola

told Roma TV

.

“We had the match under control, we wasted two or three chances, could’ve killed them off and didn’t do it. Cristiano Ronaldo’s header shouldn’t have been allowed either, as the defense was in position. It’s the game that we played well and didn’t get the points we deserved.”

That wasn’t the only setback for the Giallorossi, as they also suffered heavy defeats to

Napoli

and rivals

Lazio

.

“We had done well in the first 15 minutes with Napoli, but they clammed up with two lines of four and Andrea Petagna was basically marking our creative midfielder. The mistake we made was losing our way after conceding the opening goal from a free-kick, so that is something we need to improve on.

“The derby still hurts. Football is made up of incidents, but you have to earn your own luck too. If you go 2-0 down after 20 minutes, it’s going to be tough, but that’s what Lazio are good at, sitting back and going on the counter.

“The important thing for Roma to do is believe in ourselves and maintain that balance, not get downbeat after something goes wrong. We are third, after all.”
