Matthew Hoppe signs first pro contract with Schalke

The 19-year-old striker Matthew Hoppe has signed his first professional contract, keeping him at Schalke 04 until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

, which helped the club end a 30-game winless run in Bundesliga. And he became the first US player ever to score a hat-trick in the German top-flight.

The highly-rated forward has become a regular starter for the team and is rewarded with the offer of sign for the first-team.

USMNT coach

Gregg Berhalter

has stated that he is keeping a close eye on Hoppe and that the striker will get a chance to represent his country if he continues to perform in the Bundesliga.

Schalke are more than happy to have agreed a new deal with a youngster who has netted five goals in 10 games so far this season.

“Matthew Hoppe has taken his chance and shown that he has the potential to permanently establish himself in the Bundesliga,”
