Real Madrid starlet to join Getafe
Takefusa Kubo, known as the Japanese Messi, is set to join Getafe after bad Villarreal spell.
started his football career at
Barcelona's La Masia academy, but returned to Japan to join
FC Tokyo
after Barca were suspended in 2014 for illegally recruiting several players under the age of 18, including Kubo.
Kubo joined
Real Madridin the summer of 2019 from FC Tokyo; While he also had an offer from
Barcelona
. He went on the United States tour with Real and played a few games and shone, but
Zidane
had said from the beginning that Kubo belonged to Real's second team and will not have a place in the first team squad.
Kubo played so well in Real's pre-season matches that the Spanish media believed he definitely deserved to be in the first team, but Zidane did not change his mind and eventually the player went to
Mallorcaon a loan deal.
Villarreal boss,
Unai Emery
had asked for Kubo personally, but after a half-season, the Japanese star could not fit himself into Emery’s plans and since the player couldn’t get enough playing time, Real asked for Kubo's separation.
The player himself was reluctant to continue playing for Villarreal and finally agreed a six-month loan deal with
Getafe. Getafe will pay €2.5 million to Real.
