Another blow for Liverpool with Matip’s injury

The Reds player was replaced in their game against West Brom after suffering from an injury.

Liverpool

defender,

Joel Matip

, was taken off the pitch during their game against

West Brom

after suffering from a groin injury. The 29-years-old, who signaled his discomfort at the 60th minute of the match, was later replaced by

Rhys Williams

.

Jurgen Klopp

admitting that the player may miss some time on the pitch, said:

“Joel told me he felt something in his adductor and that’s obviously not too good.”

“I am not sure how serious it is now, but it was serious enough that he had to leave the pitch. The rest of the information I will get tomorrow.”

Matip, who helped his team to take the lead in the first-half, has been sidelined on several occasions due to his fitness difficulties this season and with his injury adding up to Liverpool’s injury-list, Klopp will have to come up with a solution for their defending-line crisis.

Still after the recent recovery progress video shared by

Virgil van Dijk

, the Dutchman’s teammate,

Fabinho

talked about the player’s state, saying:

"Well we hope he returns soon and has a perfect recovery.”

"He makes a real difference to the day to day in the dressing room and of course he will get his position straight back from me.”

"I don’t know what the coach will do but I am sure Virgil will go straight in to the defence and I will go in to midfield. I hope that’s as soon as possible."
