Pires: Mbappe should join Real Madrid to keep growing as a player

Former Arsenal star has encouraged his countryman Kylian Mbappe to join Real Madrid to start the next phase of his career.

PSG

star

Kylian Mbappe

has been linked with

Real Madrid

during recent transfer market windows. The 21-year is contracted until 2022 but rumors have it that he has personal interest in the Spanish club and is keen to join Los Blancos even if it means he must leave the French club before the ending of his contract. Just recently one of PSG’s officials revealed that the plan for Mbappe is to win the Champions League at PSG and then ‘Join a big club’. Former French international Robert Pires who turned down an offer from Real Madrid during his spectacular career at Arsenal has encouraged the young star to join the Spanish side.

"Of course. I'm French, I like Paris Saint-Germain and I'd like him to stay in Ligue 1," he told AS.

"But if he wants to keep growing as a player, he should sign for Real Madrid."

Pires has also spoken about Zinedine Zidane’s situation in Madrid as he is under a lot of pressure due to the team’s poor results in the recent games.

"I think it's incredible that people talk about a crisis and the end of an era when Real Madrid lose two games before the Clasico and then draw at the death against Borussia Monchengladbach," Pires said.

"I know there's a lot of pressure at Madrid, but the coach and the players need to be given a calmer climate in which to do their job.

"Just because they're Madrid or Barcelona, they can't always beat everybody. If that were the case, football would be very boring."

Real Madrid will be playing against

Huesca

on Saturday before their Champions League clash against Inter three days later.
