best UEFA Player of 2019

and the Premier League Player of the Year in 2018-19 season; Virgil van Dijk is the Dutch defender of Liverpool who, as some believe, has taken the Premier League club to a different level. He’s simply a phenomenon both in Dutch and English football and the only defender ever to have won UEFA Men’s player of the year to this date.

And to win Best FIFA Men’s Player and Ballon d’Or in 2018-19 season he was just a step behind - he actually finished runner-up. Van Dijk has a number of honors in the bag that are extraordinary for a defender only at the age of 28. Apart from

Liverpool

, he has also played for Celtic and was named the Scottish club Player of the Year in 2013-14 season.

However, the 28-year-old Dutch star collected most of his awards and trophies after he joined Liverpool in 2018. He is the winner of Premier League Player of the Season, Liverpool Players' Player of the Season, UEFA Men's Player of the Year, and UEFA Defender of the Season awards all in 2018-19 season. He was also named in PFA and UEFA Team of the Year in the same season.

Mohamed Salah

The first and only Egyptian footballer to have been named the

Premier League Player of the Year

in the English league history - actually in 2017-18 season, Moahmed Salah currently plays for Liverpool, but he has also played for other top-tier clubs such as AS Roma and Chelsea.

They say it was with Liverpool that he shined and rightly so since he earned most of his awards, titles, and trophies after joining the Premier League club in 2017, though he was also a top scorer at AS Roma with 15 goals in 31 appearances he made for the Serie A club.

Salah is also a top scorer for Liverpool with 71 goals he has scored in his 103 appearances for the Premier League club - more than two goals in every three appearances. And for the Egyptian national team? The same story! The 28-year-old Egyptian forward has scored 41 goals in 67 appearances he has made for his country’s national team - almost two goals in every three appearances.

Maybe that’s why both Liverpool and Egyptian national team fans love him and showed that love by nicknaming him “The Pharaoh” and “Egyptian King”. Even some Liverpool supporters once said if Salah scored more goals for them, they would convert to Islam (Salah’s religion)!

Kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City’s star since 2015 and one of the

best Premier League players of 2020

, Kevin de Bruyne sits at the top of the Premier League goal assists list with 17 assists he has made so far in the major English league.

If we just rule out

De Bruyne has also played for Chelsea and the Bundesliga club, Werder Bremen, (on loan from Chelsea) as a midfielder. He was named Manchester City’s Player of the Year in two seasons, namely 2015-16 and 2017-18 seasons, and Premier League Playmaker of the Season in 2017-18 season.

Vardy is a goalscorer by nature. He has also scored 31 goals in his 36 appearances for the League One club, Fleetwood Town - near one goal in every appearance. So, it makes no difference in what tier he plays, he just scores, though a little lesser in the top tier.

Vardy has also won a number of awards since joining Leicester City in 2012. Some of these awards include Premier League Player of the Season in 2015-16 season, Leicester City Players' Player of the Season in 2013-14 season, and Premier League Goal of the Month in March 2018.
