Mykhailo Mudryk embraces the pressure of his £89m price tag
Beating off competition from Arsenal, Chelsea signed Mudryk from Shakhtar on a record-breaking £89m deal. Amid his hard Premier League start, Mudryk embraces the pressure of his price tag.
Arsenal was in negotiations with Shakhtar for a few weeks and believed they were on the verge of signing Mykhaylo Mudryk on a deal worth around £80m, but Chelsea hijacked the move and reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk over a deal worth £89m.
However, the highly-rated winger struggled in Premier League as he only registered one assist through seven appearances. Despite suggestions of him being an expensive flop, Mudryk is determined to silence his critics.
Mudryk has told
Sky Sports:<em>
“I can say yes, it's a lot of pressure, but it's not for the first time. I like this pressure because one day that guy who said I’m a loser, one day he will say I’m a winner. Time will tell.”
Mudryk added on operating as a No.9:
“It's a good position. It's easier when the ball comes to you by floor but it's heavier when you receive the ball in the air. But it depends what kind of game we got here, for some games maybe it's better for me to play nine, for some games it will be better for me, and for the team, to play on the side.”
