Kompany to come back at Etihad as Burnley coach in FA Cup quarter-finals

The FA Cup quarter-finals draw has been revealed and it seems that at least one Championship side will reach the semis

Man City will host its legendary former captain Vincent Kompany as he leads

Burnley

in the FA Cup quarter-final clash at the Etihad Stadium. Manchester United will host Fulham in one of the other 3 games.

The Citizens eased past Bristol City 3-0 with a brace from Phil Foden and a goal from Kevin De Bruyne to kill the match off. They now have to face Vincent Kompany’s Burnley who are flying in the Championship and barring any disaster will have their Premier League tickets soon.

Burnley defeated Fleetwood Town 1-0 on Wednesday, booking a place in the quarter-finals.

Elsewhere, ten Hag’s Man Utd came from behind against West Ham on Wednesday, winning 3-1. United’s victory comes only days after they won their first trophy of the season when they beat Newcastle in the EFL Cup final.

The real superstars of the tournament so far are the fourth-tier Grimsby Town who slew their fifth victim from a higher division after they defeated Southampton 2-1. The Marines have drawn PL side Brighton who defeated Stoke City 1-0. Sheffield who won 1-0 against Spurs will host Blackburn Rovers in the last match of the quarter finals.

The FA Cup quarter-final ties will be played between March 17 and 19.

FA Cup quarter-final draw in full:

  • Manchester City v Burnley

  • Manchester United v Fulham

  • Brighton and Hove Albion v Grimsby Town

  • Sheffield United v Blackburn Rovers
