Potter unhappy with VAR after Chelsea's 1-1 draw against West Ham

Chelsea was stopped by West Ham in a London derby on Saturday as VAR denied a late penalty handball for the Blues. While pleased with Joao Felix's first goal in his return from suspension, Potter bemoans the VAR decision.

On Soucek's handball which VAR decided not to be a penalty,

Graham Potter

told his post-match interview:

"I thought it was a good a save. I think it looks like one of those where if it was given it wouldn't be overturned.

"I was surprised how well Tomas got down but it's not for me to say.”

However, Potter was happy with

Chelsea

's overall performance, he added:

"I felt today was a step forward. Rocked by the goal because that's football and it's something for us to learn from. We've had a good training week but when it's not reflected in the result it doesn't matter."

Asked about his opinion toward fans' reception of

Marc Cucurella

, the English coach said:

"Supporters are entitled to their opinion of course, as I said in the previous press conference I don't think Marc is in his best moment but he has been part of a team that kept a clean sheet against Liverpool and Fulham. Marc had interest from another football club in the summer, he's not a bad player at all.

"We need to stick together and help him but supporters are entitled to their opinion.”

Chelsea started with five winter signings. Asked how he fitted them in, Potter said:

"It's a challenge but it's my job. It's exciting but it tests you but you have to make sure you communicate properly. It's been a good training week and the spirit of the group has been really good. There's good competition for place we need training to be better and better and then you have to have honest conversations.

“Chelsea fans are entitled to their view and when we're not winning, they'll be disappointed like we are. You can see the potential of the team today, you can see where the work is... getting Reece James up to speed, Chilwell up to the speed, Loftus-Cheek up to speed, Fofana up to speed, Kante up to speed. Adjusting Mudryk to the league, Badiashile to the league...”
