"It is a problem of Spanish football and it must be resolved" - Ancelotti on racist abuse of Vinicius Junior

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says the abuse that has been directed at Vinicius Jr is a problem for the whole of Spanish football.

Vinicius Jr

once again received racist abuse from fans during the game against Real Mallorca on Sunday. The

Real Madrid

star has also been subjected to racial abuse in other matches this season.

A mannequin wearing his No. 20 shirt was hung from a bridge by Atletico Madrid fans in front of the club's training center two weeks ago.

Ahead of the match against Al Ahly in the Club World Cup semi-final, Ancelotti defended the Brazilian forward and insisted the problems have nothing to do with Vinicius.

“The question I ask is this. Vinicius or his teammates? What do they have to defend themselves from? Here it seems that the problem belongs to Vinicius and it is not like that. It is a problem of Spanish football. And I acknowledge that I am part of Spanish football, and it must be resolved. Vinicius is the victim of something I don’t understand.”

Ancelotti said.

Vinicius was fouled 10 times against Mallorca, which is the most for any player in

La Liga

this season. He is also the most fouled player in Europe's top seven leagues.

After he received racial abuse against Valladolid in December, Vinicius publicly accused La Liga of continuing to do nothing about racist fans at matches.

Real Madrid manager Ancelotti also said of the Club World Cup:

"It's a very important tournament. It means that we have done things well. We are very excited. We want to win the trophy in a country (Morocco) where we have a lot of fans before thinking about the next challenges."
